Started by brothers in 1966, fueled by passion, serving G-Body enthusiasts.
In 1966, brothers Vic and Rich Marchese started Mand M Automotive in an old, renovated 10' x 10' outhouse behind their father's Shell gas station in Poughkeepsie, New York with a $500 investment. At age 16, Rich took their catalogs to high school with him to sell to his classmates.
In 1968, Vic left to pursue a career in the construction industry and Rich moved the store to a 2,500 square foot location with a store front and warehouse. At this time, the name was changed to M and M Speed and Custom. The business grew to include three stores in mid New York state, and a warehouse division called Performance Equipment and Supply, serving New Yourk state, and by mail order, all of the United States, Canada, and overseas. M and M specialized in speed and racing equipment.
In the late 1970's, with the gasoline crunch (and we thought 99 cents a gallon was high), and the federal regulations on performance cars, M and M branched into custom van supplies as well.
In the 1980's, M and M moved to south Florida and opened a 10,000 square foot warehouse selling speed equipment and muscle cars, had a complete restoration shop, plus an engine building facility.
In 2003, M and M went in a different direction with the G-Body market, specializing in El Camino, Monte Carlo, Malibu parts by mail order. The 4,000 suqare foot warehouse and phone room sits on 2 acres. Here, parts cars are brought to be stripped for only the best of their parts, as parts are getting harder and harder to find and very few reproduction parts are being manufactured for these cars.
M and M has always been involved in NHRA racing, which was the reason for its birth. In the late 60's and 70's, M and M professionally raced several Super Stock cars (Chevys and Chrysler Hemis), winning several national classes and setting several records.
Today, M and M is still involved, sponsoring drag racing cars. Some of the cars M and M sponsors include Rich's 1984 El Camino Choo Choo 468 cu. in. S/ST, John Gunn/Reiff 1988 Olds Cutlass 305 SS/KA, Dennis Stabile's 1964 Dodge max wedge 426 (Dennis the Menace"), Ulisses Roque's 1986 El Camino show car, and even the Ford Pinto with a 351 Windsor belonging to Ron Stabile.
The M and M family includes Rich as the President / GM, Becky as the Finance Officer / Office Manager, Joe as the Accountant, Clayton as the Sales Manager, Ulisses as the Warehouse Manager, and K.D. (Chico) as the Yard Manager.
